What does the SDA represent?
It’s an acknowledgement, a support, as well as an opportunity to work in a studio in a major capital. I like the diversity of projects that are awarded. Also that SDA is awarding market-, personal-, portfolio- and sometimes even diploma projects at the same time within the same category. I think SDA has a more contemporary visual quality compared to other awards. For me, SDA is especially interesting for less established and young designers who try to work independently and where an eventual award can be very helpful in terms of boosting a career. That’s why I really like the original idea of a „Förderpreis“ and I hope that SDA is keeping this distinction for the future.
Best previous SDAwardees?
There are many I like. But I don’t like the idea of ranking them.
