Hochparterre @ Swiss Design Awards
22 August 2014

HOCHPARTERRE, the print-archive of Swiss contemporary architecture, design and city planning, and media partner to this year’s 2014 Swiss Design and Swiss Art Awards, has just released its fall issue! The magazine, created by top-notch editors who have been with the institution since 1988, marks an important voice in the Swiss design and architecture discourse. Its aim is built of these three pillars: to inform, to evaluate and to be a useful tool. As HOCHPARTERRE’s focuses becomes more and more extensive, so too do their publications: this magazine represents only one of the institution’s many ventures, including special issues, books and daily features to be posted on their website, hochparterre.ch.
The newest edition of HOCHPARTERRE includes amongst others Palle Petersen’s portrayal of Zurich architects Mark Darlington and Stephan Meier, whose constructions act not only as houses but as ‘mood-machines.’ Also in this issue: Rahel Marti discusses Berns new plans for city expansion on the “Viererfeld” in the context of former mistakes the city made in their plans for the “Quartier Brünnen,” and Armin Scharf discusses air machines, the occupation of the market for helicopters by a few central players, and one institution’s plan to take their own piece of the cake – Marenco is crafting helicopters in Mollis.
