Patrick Reymond, Chair of the Federal Design Commission underlines the jury’s decision:
” The Federal Design Commission is very delighted with the balance of quality and diversity presented by this year’s 18 award winners. This year’s selection conveys a broad spectrum of approaches and personalities, both with regards to the award winning projects and the works exhibited in Basel as a whole. Although the budget only suffices to honour selected works, it should be noted that all the nominated projects are of the highest quality. Furthermore, the diverse works demonstrate how creativity benefits from Swiss cultural diversity and know-how. In this eighth and final year as member and chair of the Federal Design Commission, I have seen how quality leads to new quality, and this is doubtlessly due to the increased promotion of design eduction in the last decade. Here in Basel, in the exhibition, one senses the creative artists’ passion and joy. Once again they show us that a crisis will never befall creativity.”
All the award winners will be honoured on the evening of 16 June, starting at 6pm, together with the selected award winners of the Swiss Grand Award for Design 2015 already announced in April — Luc Chessex, Lora Lamm and Team’77.
