HOANG NGUYEN

The graphic designer Hoang Nguyen was born in 1992 in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). Three months later, her Vietnamese family moved to Switzerland. In 2013, Nguyen decided to study visual communication at the Academy of Art and Design in Basel. She further developed an interest in bookbinding, which she was taught by Markus Müller. Following her fascination for typography, she started to work as a research associate at the HGK. Since October 2016, the graphic designer has been working as an intern with Jonas Voegeli at Hubertus-Design.

What is the task of design?

To allow function in the most visually interesting way.

How does design change life?

Design cannot change the fundamentals of life, but it can enrich it.

Must design create something new?

Although true innovation is barely possible, there’s no reason not to try.

When does design reach its limits?

Is there a limit? If there’s one, then it must be damn difficult to reach.
